Inova has a variety of resources available to support those who have been touched by addiction and SUD including:
Inova’s Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) Resources [Adult Services]
CATS provides a variety of clinical services to support people who are recovering from substance use disorders. We meet individuals where they are and help them to create positive change in their lives, using a holistic approach.
Inpatient Medical Detox
Our inpatient medical detoxification program helps individuals safely withdraw from drugs and alcohol. Learn more about Inova’s Inpatient Services here:
Program Components
- Detailed intake assessment with medical evaluation
- Psychiatric evaluation
- 24-hour medical monitoring
- Symptom management with medication
- Collaborative, patient-centered treatment approach with a multidisciplinary team
- Patient-directed goal setting
- Group therapy throughout the day, covering topics including coping skills, anxiety management, boundary setting, and addiction’s effect on the brain
- Individual counseling
- Patient and family education
- Discharge planning and transition to next-level of care

CATS Outpatient Programs and Services
CATS offers several different types of outpatient care, including more intensive, structured group programs as well as less intensive services that support long-term recovery. Here is a quick overview of the types of outpatient care we offer:
Program Components
- Partial Hospitalization Program, also known as “day treatment” – 5 days a week, full day
- Intensive Outpatient Program – 3 days a week, half day (day and evening times available)

Inova Kellar Center [Child and Adolescent Services]
Inova Kellar Center has provided behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and their families for more than thirty years. Our comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder treatment programs and an innovative special education school support families throughout Northern Virginia and have continued to expand to meet future needs. Today, the Inova Kellar Center has two locations, one in Fairfax, Virginia, and the other in Sterling, Virginia, serving Loudoun County.
